How We Will Help You

Our approach to transformational health coaching is twofold and stems from joining directive health input with non-directive coaching. Let’s explain that.

During an initial 20-minute “Hi, nice to meet you chat”, we will briefly discuss your coaching wishes.

Before the first formal session, you will be asked to complete a lifestyle questionnaire that consists of a set of surveys to help identify what your current lifestyle looks like, and to identify a potential focus of attention, in addition to your coaching wishes.

You can contact us for any reason and we coach on any aspect of your life that would contribute towards a healthier life, in a very broad sense. Lifestyle Medicine is a rapidly emerging field and describes six pillars that form the mainstay of our work: mental wellbeing, relationships & social life, fitness, nutrition, sleep, and harmful substances & addiction.

Examples could be related to career change, family life logistics, wanting to exercise more, eating healthier, sleeping better, quitting smoking, decreasing alcohol intake, stopping gambling, reducing social media use, etc.

If any of the surveys in the lifestyle questionnaire indicate a need for change, we can say “what” you would have to change and “why”. This is directive.

The “how” of change is completely up to you and coaching will guide you on your discovery. This is non-directive. Read below to find out more.

What Coaching Looks Like

We strive to unlock your thinking, so that you will find your own solutions. We ask open questions, listen carefully to your answers, and even will remain silent as a powerful tool to keep you thinking when you are. That is the way to successful transformation.

We will provide a safe space to think, and enhance your engagement by keeping you actively thinking.

In a series of online face-to-face sessions of one hour each, we will have conversations and find options for you to explore as a way forward. There are tools available for you to enhance unlocking your thinking. These tools are often surveys that you will take as “homework”. The results form the basis of the conversation in the upcoming session. Some surveys might give insight in how certain personality traits can help you finding a solution, or how they might form a barrier. Other surveys focus on your values and strengths, how you perceive them, and how they might help you to achieve your goal.

Topics within the field of Lifestyle Medicine form the heart of our work, but we are happy to coach you around any other aspect of your life that would contribute towards a healthier life.

Our coaching style is primarily solution-focused, along with some elements of transactional analysis, person-centered coaching, gestalt coaching, and positive psychology coaching. Coaching sessions are strictly one-to-one and tailored to your needs.

Most thinking is done between the sessions, so please allow at least one week between sessions, but no longer than one month, in order to maintain focus and flow. All is confidential and non-judgemental.
